Dragon Quest IX Ultimate Hits (DS)

Παρότι το Jrpgnews δεν ασχολείται με επανεκδόσεις παιχνιδιών, αυτή τη φορά κάνει μία εξαίρεση για ένα τίτλο της Square Enix που ξεφεύγει απ’την φιλοσοφία της απλής, οικονομικής κυκλοφορίας. Ο λόγος γίνεται για το Dragon Quest IX – Ultimate Hits. Στις αρχές του επόμενου μήνα η Ιαπωνική εταιρεία θα εκδόσει τον τίτλο που δε θα διαφέρει απ’την πρώτη έκδοσή του αλλά θα περιέχει αυτή τη φορά μία extra κάρτα που παρουσιάζει τον ήρωα του Dragon Quest III. Οι περισσότεροι θα αναρωτιούνται πως σχετίζεται με το Dragon Quest IX. Η απάντηση είναι καθόλου. Οι Ιάπωνες παίκτες θα μπορούν να τη χρησιμοποίησουν στο arcade : Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road II Legend που θα τους επιτρέπει να ενεργοποίησουν στις μάχες τον συγκεκριμένο ήρωα. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως η Square-Enix έκανε ακριβώς το ίδιο και με το Dragon Quest VI.

Fragile Dreams appears to be a moving, emotional journey that should enchant players. The gameplay is passable, with a simple (if a bit dull) combat system and light RPG elements. These are only tools, however, and they are used to drive forward a plot punctuated with moments of utterly captivating drama.

Το νέο παιχνίδι Pokemon Ranger ενδέχεται να κυκλοφορήσει σε μερικές ημέρες στην Ιαπωνία Η gameplay φιλοσοφία του θα παραμείνει ίδια με τα προηγούμενα της συγκεκριμένης σειράς κι ο παίκτης αυτή τη φορά πρέπει να εξερευνήσει , μέσα από action-style, ένα ολοκαίνουργιο νησί με πολλά νέα Pokemons. Πέρα απ’την απλή 1-player δράση, υπάρχει κι επιλογή για ταυτόχρονη συμμετοχή εώς και 4 παικτών.

Δύο αρκετά παλιά παιχνίδια Pokemons, τα Gold & Silver, θα γνωρίσουν μία νέα έκδοση στο NDS. Φυσικά θα είναι αρκετά αναβαθμισμένα στον τομέα των γραφικών, ήχου κι αριθμό Pokemons όπως επίσης, θα έχουν προστεθεί και νέες περιοχές προς εξερεύνηση. Σκοπός του παιχνιδιού θα παραμείνει ο ίδιος, να γίνεται ο μεγαλύτερος εκπαιδευτής. Η έκδοση των 2 παιχνιδιών θα γίνει ταυτόχρονα. Μερικές ημέρες μετά, θα κυκλοφορήσει και στην Ευρώπη.

It was very difficult to find the right balance of using the Wii controller to have a control that works well as a game, but at the same time make it feel like you are actually there with the main character. I think finding the right balance between those two was the most challenging part.
the game has many short stories and writings on the wall separate from the main story. I would love for the users to continue to explore the world multiple times to find everything there is to see.

Fragile Dreams - Nintendo Power review details
- sloppy combat
- poor design decisions
- "In an adventure driven by story and mood, all the gameplay needed to do was stay out of the way."
- randomly breaking weapons
- strictly limited inventory space
- final third of the game is generic and focuses on the combat
- game is not completely dismissed, but has serious flaws

Strange Journey was a match made in heaven, with its unique blend of science fiction and demonic themes. Even beyond that, it's the "more" I've been craving since Nocturne, and despite being on a portable, feels like a huge console game. But, as I said before, this is not a light-hearted romp that has you dating high-school girls and working part-time jobs. You've got to know what you're getting into. If you do, Strange Journey is highly recommended.
Score: 9 -- Superb

Xenoblade Dated in Japan

Gamers in Japan, and those outside of Japan with kanji skills and a Japanese console, can look forward to Xenoblade on June 10. The game is priced at 6,800 yen, which is a bit low for an epic RPG, although Nintendo tends to keep its software prices down on the whole.

A different view on electronic entertainment...
